16-YO Student’s App Gives Timely Aid to Road Accident Victims in Shortest Time Possible: Rupesh Kumar, a 16-year-old student from Jharkhand, developed Rakshak, an AI-enabled road safety app that aims to provide immediate medical assistance to road accident victims. After his friend's father died in a road accident due to delayed ambulance services, Rupesh decided to work on a solution. Rupesh received recognition and a scholarship from the Indian government for his innovative app.
A tragic death inspired IIT-M student to build machine that rescues kids from borewells: Sadham Usean Ramasamy, a PhD scholar from IIT-Madras, has invented a machine that can safely rescue children who fall into and get trapped in borewells. Inspired by the tragic death of two-year-old Sujith Wilson, who fell into an abandoned and deep borewell in a village near Tiruchirappalli in 2019, Ramasamy hopes the device will help prevent future borewell accidents.
